MATT FISCHER, FORMER APPLE APP STORE EXECUTIVE, JOINS PROJECT HEALTHY MINDS’ BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Technology Leader Brings Decades of Innovation To Non-Profit Tackling Mental Health, a Defining Issue of the 21st Century
New York — April 8, 2025 — Project Healthy Minds, a Millennial/Gen Z-driven mental health technology non-profit dedicated to expanding access to mental health services for all, proudly announces the appointment of Matt Fischer to its Board of Directors.
Fischer is a visionary leader with over 25 years of experience at the intersection of technology, media, and entertainment. Before his retirement from Apple last year, he spent over 21 years at the company, where most recently he served as a Vice President overseeing its global App Store business. His responsibilities included managing the App Stores for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, Mac, and Apple’s game subscription service, Apple Arcade. Under his leadership, the App Store reached over one billion customers worldwide, with developers generating over $1 trillion in total billings and sales in the App Store ecosystem annually. Prior to his App Store role, he led U.S. marketing and partnerships for iTunes at Apple, and was previously head of marketing at Napster.
“Over the past 25 years in the tech industry—including more than two decades at Apple—I’ve seen how digital platforms can transform lives in powerful ways,” said Fischer. “I’m honored to bring that experience to an organization that’s breaking down barriers to mental healthcare, especially for younger generations. As a father, I see firsthand the stress and anxiety today’s youth are navigating.” He continued, “I’m deeply invested in their future and passionate about creating solutions that meet them where they are. Project Healthy Minds is doing just that—delivering accessible, intuitive, and stigma-free tools to support mental wellness. I’m proud to help advance their mission and expand access to care for those who need it most.”
“There is perhaps no one in the world who has seen how consumer technology can impact our culture more than Matt Fischer,” said Phil Schermer, Project Healthy Minds’ CEO and Founder. He added, “Technology has always been a catalyst for change, but its greatest potential lies in how it can be harnessed to address the most pressing social issues of our time. Matt is a world-class leader whose expertise will be invaluable as we continue to scale our impact – advancing and redefining how technology can shape the future of mental health. We’re honored to have his guidance as we enter this exciting new phase of growth.”
