Marisa Toups

Dr. Toups is a board-certified psychiatrist who attended Tulane Medical School and completed psychiatry residency and a fellowship in clinical research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her academic work focused on the impact of immunity on depression presentation and outcomes, improving the assessment and treatment of patients with medical illness and comorbid depression, as well as the use of exercise as a depression treatment. She has developed curricula for scientific literacy, evidence-based medicine, and journal clubs for psychiatrists, and gives talks on the evidence base for traditional and alternative depression treatments. Recently she founded Singularity Psychiatry and Mental Health, a practice serving adults with complex or treatment resistant depression in Austin, TX. She continues to contribute to evidence based medicine education with a faculty affiliation with UT Southwestern, and you can hear her geeking out over clinical trial design on the podcast Yeah, No Journal Club.
