Executive Advisor, Investcorp

David Spingarn currently serves as an Executive Advisor with Investcorp, a private equity firm with $7B of assets under management.  Previously, Spingarn was a Partner at United Talent Agency, serving as its Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of Corporate Development from 2010 through 2021.  Spingarn has worked in the media & entertainment industry for over 20 years and has prior experience working in management consulting and investment banking.

With UTA, Spingarn led strategic planning, M&A, and corporate development, and assisted with corporate finance and investment activities.  He led 14 acquisitions, expanding UTA into sports, music, news & broadcasting, speaking, esports, investment banking, and marketing services.  Spingarn also led the agency’s private equity capital raises by Investcorp and PSP in 2018 and by Jeffrey Ubben of Value Act in 2015.  Additionally, Spingarn led the company’s minority investment in production company, Industrial Media, where he serves as a board member.  He also advised on M&A and financings of UTA clients, Vidcon, Awesomeness TV, Big Huge Games, Jax Media, Point Grey, and Jigsaw Productions, and was a member of the UTA’s venture investment committee, completing nearly 50 digital media investments.

Prior to UTA, Spingarn worked with Disney, Fox, and Universal Music.  Spingarn joined Disney in 2000, working in the Corporate Strategic Planning Group on M&A, strategic planning and corporate development activities, including the $5.2 billion acquisition of Fox Family, the sale of DIC Entertainment to Bain Capital, and the acquisition of the Muppets franchise from The Jim Henson Company.  Following Disney, Spingarn joined Fox, leading business development initiatives for Fox Interactive Media, which included the initial formation of HULU.  In 2006, Spingarn moved to Universal Music Group, overseeing new ventures & strategic investments for Interscope Geffen A&M.  With Interscope, Spingarn helped launch the Beats by Dr. Dre, which subsequently sold to Apple for $3 billion.

Spingarn earned his MBA with Distinction from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar, and received a BBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.  In addition to serving on the Advisory Council of Project Healthy Minds, Spingarn serves as a Board & Executive Committee Member for Tower Cancer Research Foundation.
